HookDeploy

Answers to common billing questions for HookDeploy self-serve plans.

Payment methods

HookDeploy uses Stripe for payment processing. Accepted methods depend on your region but typically include:

  • Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
  • Some regions support bank debits and digital wallets via Stripe

Payment methods are managed in the Stripe Customer Portal — click Manage subscription on the Billing page.

HookDeploy never stores your card details. Stripe handles all payment data.

How billing works

Each organization has its own subscription and Stripe Customer. Billing is per organization, not per user.

  • Free plan — No payment method required. No Stripe Customer created.
  • Paid plans — Stripe Customer created on first upgrade. One customer per org.
  • Billing interval — Monthly or yearly, selected at checkout.
  • Invoices — Generated by Stripe and emailed to the org owner. View past invoices in the Stripe Customer Portal.

Upgrading mid-cycle

When you upgrade from Free to a paid plan, billing starts immediately. You pay the full price for the selected interval (monthly or yearly).

When you upgrade from Starter to Team mid-cycle, Stripe prorates the difference for the remaining days in your current period.

Downgrading

Downgrade via the Stripe Customer Portal (Manage subscription on the Billing page). The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your current plan’s limits until then.

Before downgrading, ensure you’re within the new plan’s limits:

  • Delete excess endpoints
  • Remove members beyond the new limit
  • Export or replay important requests before retention shortens

Cancellation

Cancel anytime via the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you won’t be charged again, and you keep paid features until the period ends.

After cancellation:

  • Your org reverts to the Free plan
  • Endpoints beyond the Free limit (5) remain but you can’t create new ones until you’re under the limit
  • Request history beyond 7-day retention is deleted on schedule
  • API keys continue to work with Free plan rate limits

There is no “pause subscription” option. Cancel and re-subscribe when ready.

Refunds

HookDeploy does not offer automatic refunds. If you were charged in error or have a billing issue, contact support within 14 days of the charge. We’ll review case by case.

Stripe handles all payment disputes through your card issuer if needed.

Failed payments

If a payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds):

  1. Stripe retries automatically over several days
  2. Your subscription status changes to past_due
  3. You receive email notifications from Stripe
  4. Update your payment method in the Stripe Customer Portal

If payment continues to fail, Stripe cancels the subscription and your org reverts to Free.

Invoices and receipts

Access invoices in the Stripe Customer Portal:

  1. Go to Billing in your organization
  2. Click Manage subscription
  3. View invoice history in Stripe

Invoices include your organization name, plan, amount, and tax (if applicable). Stripe sends receipts to the email on the Stripe Customer.

Tax

Stripe Tax may apply sales tax or VAT depending on your location. Tax is calculated at checkout and shown on invoices. HookDeploy does not provide tax advice — consult your accountant for deductibility.

Free plan forever

The Free plan is genuinely free — no credit card, no trial expiration. It’s designed for solo developers testing webhook integrations. Limits are tight (500 requests/month, 5 endpoints, 7-day retention) but sufficient for occasional debugging.

When you outgrow Free, upgrade to Starter ($9/mo) or Team ($19/mo). See Plans for the full comparison.

Enterprise billing

Enterprise uses custom pricing and invoicing. Contact support for a quote.
