Production vs Development

How agent environments affect retries, offline expectations, and plan limits.

Every agent is enrolled as either Production or Development. You choose the environment when you create an enrollment token or approve a Desktop Agent / device-code login in the dashboard.

What the difference means

In the dashboard:

  • Production — “This machine stays online. Failed deliveries retry.”
  • Development — “Laptops and machines that go offline. Failures stop immediately.”

You can change an agent’s environment later from the Agents page when your plan allows it.

Plan limits

Production agents count toward your plan’s production-agent allowance. Additional production agents are available as a flat monthly add-on when you need more than your plan includes.

Development agents are for machines that are expected to disconnect; they are not the same limit bucket as production agents.
